Vallelunga Pratameno

Vallelunga Pratameno is a small inland comune in the central part of the Province of Caltanissetta, set at about 457 metres above sea level in a fertile hilly valley. Its setting, on the left side of the Salacio stream and among several watercourses, gives the village a rural character closely tied to farming and the rhythms of the surrounding countryside.

The territory has traces of Bronze Age habitation, while the documented feudal identity of Vallislonge appears from the 14th century. The present settlement took shape in the early 17th century under Pietro Marino, with sources linking its foundation to 1623 and recording a licentia populandi in 1633. It later developed under the Notarbartolo and Papè families, and the older name Vallelunga was expanded in the 19th century to Vallelunga Pratameno.

Quiet, compact and traditional, the village is distinctive for the way its rural culture, feudal origins and long agricultural memory remain central to its identity.
