Blufi is a small hill village on the southern side of the Madonie, near Petralia Soprana and Petralia Sottana and within reach of Palermo. Set in a rural landscape that descends toward the Southern Imera area, it has the compact character of an inland borgo, with village life closely tied to the surrounding countryside and to long-standing religious traditions.
Its identity is inseparable from nearby Petralia Soprana: Blufi remained a frazione of that town until 1972, becoming an independent municipality only in the late 20th century. Sources also place the beginnings of the settlement in the 16th century, while older traces in the area point to a broader historical landscape around the village.
