Falcone is a small seaside town on Sicily’s Tyrrhenian coast, set between Capo Tindari and the Milazzo promontory, with the Rocca di Novara rising inland to the south. Its setting gives it a clear coastal identity, balanced by the green character of the nearby Nebrodi area and a landscape of Mediterranean vegetation.
Although ancient origins are mentioned in local accounts, the present settlement is generally described as much more recent. Falcone was once linked to nearby Oliveri, including within its former feudal sphere, and one account dates the current old centre to 1857. Its later growth is closely associated with maritime activity, especially fishing, before it emerged as a distinct community.
Today Falcone’s character is small-scale, coastal and nature-oriented, with a strong sense of local tradition shaped by the sea, rural production and craftsmanship. Its distinctive appeal lies in the meeting of Tyrrhenian coastline, mountain backdrop and a relatively recent maritime history on this stretch of the Messina coast.
