Campofelice di Roccella is a seaside town in the Province of Palermo, set between Termini Imerese and Cefalù on a terrace above the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its position gives it a distinctly coastal character, with the town looking out over the shoreline near the mouth of the Roccella watercourse and taking on a livelier summer rhythm without losing its local roots.
The area was inhabited long before the modern town appeared, with Greek, Roman and Arab traces marking its strategic role between coast and inland routes. The present settlement dates to 1699, when Prince Don Gaspare La Grutta founded a new casale after receiving a licentia populandi from King Charles II of Spain. Older references to Roccella were later joined by the name Campofelice, linked in local tradition to the favourable position and mild climate.
Today, Campofelice di Roccella is defined by this mix of sea-facing geography, late-feudal foundation and older Mediterranean layers. Its identity is also closely tied to devotion to Santa Rosalia, giving the town a cultural memory that feels both coastal and deeply Sicilian.
