Altavilla Milicia

Altavilla Milicia is a small hill town in the Province of Palermo, set in a panoramic position above the Tyrrhenian Sea. Its outlook takes in the surrounding mountains and coastline, giving the town a clear identity as an inland village closely tied to the nearby coast.

The present town was founded in 1621 by Francesco Maria Beccadelli di Bologna and developed around a pre-existing fortified baglio, with its early layout overseen by Mariano Smiriglio.
