Terme Vigliatore

Terme Vigliatore is a young coastal spa town on Sicily’s Tyrrhenian shore, set between the sea and the first slopes of the Nebrodi, near the Peloritani hills. It lies in the gulf between the Milazzo peninsula and the Tindari promontory, with a landscape that opens towards the Aeolian Islands and carries a distinctly green, flower-filled character.

Although the municipality was created only on 28 June 1966 by uniting the rural nuclei of Terme and Vigliatore, the area’s identity is much older. Its name recalls the ancient “Termini”, linked to sulfurous waters, which became “Terme” in the Roman period; it was also formerly known as Castroreale Terme. Protohistoric, Hellenistic and Roman traces point to a long settlement history, while medieval prosperity was tied to agriculture.

Today, Terme Vigliatore is defined by this unusual mix of thermal memory, coastal setting and floricultural culture, with streets and public spaces that reflect its reputation as a town closely associated with ornamental plants and greenery.
